SYSTEM MECHANICAL ENGINEER

PSI is an established leader in the design and manufacture of bespoke advanced materials process plant. An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an experienced engineer to join our highly skilled team assembling, testing, installing and commissioning plant in the UK and overseas. The successful applicant will have a strong multi-disciplined engineering background with a proven track record of working from technical drawings to assemble large complex process equipment that includes engineering disciplines vacuum, water, pneumatics and inert high pressure gas pipework.

Job Specification

The successful candidate will

  • Qualifications: Min. BTEC Level 3 / ONC Mech. Eng or equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum 3+ year’s practical technician engineering background, apprentice trained

GENERAL ENGINEER

Phoenix Scientific Industries Ltd (PSI) designs, manufactures and installs capital equipment used in the metallurgy industries globally. Equipment ranges in size from R&D Atomising Systems sold to Universities and material Research institutions through to large scale industrial production scale units for corporate enterprises globally.

Due to continued sustained growth PSI Ltd is seeking to recruit a General Engineer for a diverse role which includes such duties as taking responsibility of control of goods inwards procedures, and low level inspection stock and component control processes. The successful candidate must have the ability to work ‘hands on’ with a small team of skilled engineers.

Job Specification

The successful candidate will

  • Goods inwards / booking in procedure
  • Engineering technical drawing interpretation and understanding
  • Ability to read, understand basic engineering measurement tools
  • Manual Lathe and Vertical Mill operation – simple component modification and machining
  • Processing and kitting of Bills of Materials
  • Small stores stock control with high organisational skills
  • Keeping designated areas clean and tidy
  • Good awareness of Health and Safety shop floor safe working procedures
  • Suitable applicant must be self-motivated, work both within a small multi-skilled team and independently with their own initiative:

ENGINEERING MANAGER

PSI is expanding due to the sustained and rapid expansion of the Power Metallurgy industry.  This is driven in part by the new technology of Additive Manufacturing (3D metal printing) which is rapidly displacing other metal forming technologies.

We are looking for an experienced, mechanically-biased Engineering Manager to manage our design project team and create a disciplined approach to dealing with large capital projects in metals process equipment.

 

Job Specification

The successful candidate will

  • Provide technical direction, daily management, design and systems integration for large engineering capital expenditure equipment from project concept through to customer commissioning.
  • Apply significant industrial technical knowledge within the areas of high pressure gas, water cooling, induction heating, and vacuum engineering disciplines.
  • Confer with Directors, Sales / Marketing staff and Engineering team on technical specifications and procedures.
  • Clear, concise and coordinated leadership skills within the company’s engineering production requirements.
  • Competent user of Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks Design Engineering modelling software. 
  • Ability to understand, formulate and process ideas from written engineering specifications.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply engineering standards relating to systems design, operation and safety during the design, production and installation phases.
  • Manage the process of review and approve product design and change.
  • Clear concise understanding and application of cost/design engineering management process tools.
  • Manage a team of four / five CAD designers, detail CAD draughtspersons and project engineer with a positive ‘can do’ attitude delivering project designs according to agreed delivery date times schedules.
  • The successful applicant would ideally have a first degree in an engineering-based subject with a minimum of five years proven industrial scientific equipment process environment experience. Experience in metal melting process, vacuum or oil and gas systems would be advantageous.
  • Requirement to travel overseas as and when required.
