1. SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN
Phoenix Scientific Industries (PSI) Limited designs, manufactures and installs capital equipment for the metallurgy industry; ranging from small R&D systems for universities and institutions, through to large scale industrial production units for corporate enterprises across the globe.
Although our product and technology range spans many aspects of the industrial metallurgy sector, we are best known for the development of atomisation technology essential for the production of metal powders, and in particular, close-coupled atomisation for very fine metal powder manufacture.
Component design technologies typically include gas atomisation, induction heating, rapid solidification technology, chemical vapour deposition and infiltration furnaces, physical vapour deposition, wirecasting and melt spinning and thermal vacuum and pressure systems
Our systems are sold throughout the world, requiring design principles that encompass and combine cost effective design innovation with operational simplicity – a continually challenging and rewarding engineering task.
Global focus on lowering CO2 emissions and the drive for renewable energy systems is driving increasing demand for the special alloy metal powders produced using PSI-designed and manufactured atomising systems, and we now wish to expand our production engineering team.
We are seeking a Systems Technician who has an enthusiasm for high tech materials processing both from a practical and theoretical approach, and can combine their engineering skills with an ability to work ‘hands-on’ with the systems design team to ensure that innovative design concepts are converted to production realities – on time and to budget.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified technicians, engineers and scientists either by academic or industrial experience routes.
This is a key role and offers the successful candidate the opportunity for continual professional development, occasional international travel, and stimulating work in one of the key engineering sectors of a growing global market sector.
Job Specification - Systems Technician:
► Assist in assembly of the Company’s material processing systems.
► Assist in the operation of in-house material processing systems.
► Assist with sub-system equipment tests, including configuration and calibration.
► Assist with Overseas and UK system installation visits.
► Conduct Overseas and UK site commissioning and customer training.
► General maintenance and calibration of in-house process plant.
► Where required, helping other members of staff on a teamwork basis.
► General housekeeping procedures.
Salary: Negotiable (ca £25,000)
Location: Hailsham, East Sussex
Essentials: Full UK Driving Licence and ability to travel globally as required.
Working Hours: 08:30 to 17:30 – Monday to Friday (exc. Bank holidays)
Annual Profit Sharing Scheme: Membership of the scheme, which distributes on an annual basis a proportion of the company's profits to staff according to team and individual performance.
Holiday entitlement: Year-1 = 20 days / Year 2 = 22 days / Year 3 = 25 days (exc. Bank Holidays).
