VIGA ATOMISERS

Close-coupled vacuum inert gas atomisation systems (VIGA) are designed to enhance the powder production by optimising operational efficiencies and greatly increasing fine powder yields. R&D to production scale atomisers with additional technology to produce advanced materials.

CONTIPOUR

Continuous atomisation of complex metal alloys to fully lower CAPEX and OPEX costs of producing high quality, high performance metal powders for near-net-shape additive manufacturing. This solution includes the ContiPour Classic, ContiPour Lite, PTV and Transparent Ladle.

MELT SPINNERS

High performance melt spinner systems are designed to produce amorphous and micro-crystalline metallic ribbons under varying atmospheric conditions. These systems have also been developed for the production of magnetic materials such as Neodymium-Iron-Boron sintered magnets.

POWDER CLASSIFIERS

Designed for the safe handling of pyrophoric, expensive and high grade powders, our powder classifiers and glove box options eliminate contamination of the powder. Our systems are designed with re-circulating gas to improve operating efficiencies.

WIRE CASTERS

Wire casting is used for the production of 100μm diameter magnetic wires, is now emerging as a viable processing route. Injection of mono filaments of molten alloys into a rapidly moving body of water allows cooling rates comparable to chill block casting to be achieved.

FLUIDISED BEDS

Our fluidised bed reactors combine operational excellence and our industry leading knowledge of powder production technology. The AM and PM industry benefits from FBR capabilities to enhance and optimise characteristics of powder morphologies.

DEPOSITION COATERS

Novel technologies designed for innovative solutions. Incorporating are expertise in vacuum and deposition systems, we’ve developed EB-CVD equipment for coating aircraft turbine blades with thermal barrier coatings and CVD coating facilities for a range of materials.

COLDMELT

Continuous melting and atomisation of titanium alloys for near-net-shape AM processes for the aerospace industry via cold-crucible technology. In collaboration with BAE, Proxima and University of Greenwich with support from Airbus, Rolls-Royce and GKN Aerospace.

DEMAND-REPAIR

Exploration of novel advanced technologies and innovative titanium powders to repair next-gen aero-engine components in the field. Development of atomised titanium alloy powders with microstructures beneficial for HVAF and cold spray processes.

ALUMOTOR

UK-Alumotor is a transformative programme that will build a UK supply chain to deliver a high performance, e-machine at a reduced cost and volume in order to drive the electric revolution. This magnet free technology project is driven by RICARDO and Innovate UK.

PURECURE

Innovation project aiming to develop a UK-based manufacturing supply chain for waster copper and converting it into high purity 99.99% copper powder feedstock for high value applications, such as civil nuclear and fusion energy components.
